The Muzhappilangad Beach festival is back.
After a brief hiatus for the last few years, the fun, colours, rides and competitions return to the popular beach in Kannur.
The Muzhappilangad Beach Fiesta 2017 is rightly positioned to take advantage of the upcoming Onam and Bakrid holidays in God's Own Country, beginning from August 31 and continuing till September 10.
Earlier versions of the festival have been colourful affairs, with families and children enjoying themselves both on the shore and wading in the waters as well.
In addition to the usual culprits like trade kiosks, food stalls and amusements rides, there will also be special programs this time around including daily competitions for children and adults, cinematic dances and gaana melas by various troupes right there on the beach.
This year, the festival will also play host to an auto show featuring the top automobile and motorbike companies of the country, ranging from Volkswagon to Harley Davidson.
Another key highlight of this year's festival is the first 3-D Kite Festival in Kerala from September 5 to 7. Innovative illuminated LED kites to be flown at night, inflatable kites, train and stunt kites... the list of special attractions in this sector sound really attractive. There are even fun kite making workshops for children.
For those who are not aware of it, Muzhappilangad beach holds a few accolades that make it an awesome tourist destination.
Considered one of India's most beautiful beaches, it has been featured as being one of the top six beaches for driving in the world by no less than BBC.

It is, in fact, the longest drive-in beach in Asia, stretching up to 4 kms. Its unique sand allows for a lot of drifting and wheeling right beside the water!
Dharmadam island lies a 100 meters south of this beach and during low tides, you can actually walk to the island through the waters.

Can you imagine walking through the water right up to that island?
The boat journey between Muzhappilangad Beach and Dharmadam is fun too as you will often find dolphins swimming right beside you in the water.
