Snoopy by nature tends to be the most fun loving dog one can imagine. Over the last two years, since the day he entered our house, he has displayed certain unique characteristics that no other dog in our house over three decades has ever exhibited. These would include stuff like
1) walking around with his own bucket,
2) being the first dog in our house to actually fetch the ball,
3) sitting on coffee tables and
4) walking around with a dog bone as though it were a cigar.
Yet, as you can see in the two pictures above, there is one thing that truly petrifies him. What you are seeing is something that scares him so much, he actually climbs on top of the sofa thinking that the extra height will save him from 'its' clutches.
He chases cows, he chases birds (!!!) and is unafraid of cars too. So what evil entity is it that scares him so badly that he looks so petrified?
Turns out getting a bath is his Kryptonite. We just have to tell him the word "bath" and he starts backing away, running till the gate and going limp once we catch him so that it makes him harder to drag/ carry along. It is the only time he growls and looks angrily and accusingly at us, threatening revenge in his own silent ways.
I swear, these beagles are amazingly intelligent animals but almost comically stubborn at times. The lengths to which he goes to to avoid taking a bath and later on plotting revenge (which usually involves him finding our ironed clothes and wiping the floor with the clothes of the 'culprit') are hilarious to watch.
Another thing that makes him angry - us showing more love to Victor, the doberman |
Do you have a pet at home? What is the one thing (among many, I'm sure) that drives him/her nuts?

Tagging today's post to NabloPoMo, Jess's #IBOT and Everyday Gyaan's #SeptemberChallenge. I decided to intersperse the recipes with some personal posts too, based on the various prompts available online.

Sweet! Thankfully Pablo loves his bath! Now who is Victor? Do you get another dog?
ReplyDeleteWe have had a doberman for close to 5 years... you can spot him in the last pic and in quite a few pics in the "Canines guide to Humanity" post. He is honestly the most obedient dog by far... Snoopy just gets bragging rights because he is in the house more.
ReplyDeleteGoofy (Luci's predecessor) did not like baths. She behaved much the same way Snoopy does :) But Luci is different. She prances around, runs ahead of us and is seated and waiting for us to begin bathing her. What drives her mad? The garden hose and the water that comes out. She tries to *bite* the water and ends up guzzling more water than she needs! :P
ReplyDeleteI just adore your Snoopy. My Dad has a dog- Scooby, the lil' Dachshund. I should say, he walks around with a "chapathi" instead of a bone. :) And yes, he is scared of having a bath too. Dad told me yesterday that he is sick. I'm just hoping that he recovers on time. Thanks for the post. Made me smile!!
ReplyDeleteSnoopy is such a character... love him! We have four cats, and I think they drive US nuts more than anything ever bothers them, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny character Snoopy is- hahah - sitting on table- oh well:-) I had cats only - for many years- maybe not a big suprise that baths were their big fear too- what a nightmare:-)
ReplyDeleteDog bone like a cigar! LOL
ReplyDeleteI told you the other day that he's a sweetie, didn't I? As for baths, oh well, none of them like baths much. But look at how scared he looks, poor thing!
Aww, that poor baby! My Chikoo, fortunately enjoys his bath time. He simply goes and lies down in the bathroom, as if all ready for a spa treatment!
ReplyDeleteThe thing that drives him crazy, or rather displeases him, is when we argue in his presence. He hates it when people speak in loud voices, or argue or fight. He is a peace lover! Other than that, he is a calm old guy, who has pretty much made peace with the world and it's ways!
awwwww snooopyyyy <3 <3 ... mine loved water so much that I had to sometimes drag him out of the bathroom ... specially during summers :P
ReplyDeleteI love how pets have such fun personalities. My dog isn't much of a fan of the bath either, but he needs one desperately. I might even do it this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHaha Snoopy is special! And handsome too ! <3 He is perfect boyfriend material I guess :D
ReplyDeleteVictor, the doberman you see in the last pic loves to bath. Snoopy stands and watches him enjoy.. sadly doesnt learn :)
ReplyDeletehehe... all the best. hope it went well
ReplyDeletethere are a bunch of cats who have adopted us... they scare snoopy away!!!
ReplyDeletehe is absolutely horrified... first thing after a bath is to go roll himself in carpets and pavements to 'undo the bath'
ReplyDeletehehe,... sounds hilarious. Viictor is happy to have a bath and sits obediently.. this guy turns into MR HYDE!
ReplyDeleteThis fellow does his fair bit to drive us nuts, rest assured :)
ReplyDeletewelcome... hope Scooby is fine now
ReplyDeleteI want to see a pic of him with that bucket and the bone-cigar - sounds crazy.
ReplyDeleteHopped across and saw the bucket picture - it's adorable! And No I do not have a pet, nor do I consider myself a per person at all.
ReplyDeletehehe... will find the bone cigar pic too and post it separately
ReplyDeletehaving a pet has relieved much of our stress over the years... this guy especially has played a major role in that aspect. Behaviour is more human than dog :)
