I have always found peace in blue.
And I know I am not the only one. Contrary to the emotions associated with the popular saying about 'feeling blue', the actual colour itself is widely revered among artists and psychologists. It is a colour of trust and integrity; of reliability and peace. It is expressive and inspiring, like the morning skies above. And yet, like the oceans and the seas at your feet, it is also a fleeting glimpse of the wonders you have yet to experience; the possibilities that lie ahead if you choose to wade into it.
These are the qualities that the colour is associated with... and they are the qualities I would seek to surround myself with as I enter my living room.
The well-illuminated living room with a light shade of blue must showcase the playful personality of the family to guests as they first enter.
And to that extent, the alkemi decor mural would seem a wonderful addition - blending the moment from our traditional culture beautifully with the modern minimalistic artwork of the artist.
Those wonderful shades of blue in just the right amounts, besides the playful violets and nascent touches of red speak volumes for themselves, letting people know that this is a family that embraces change while respecting culture.
But then, there is more to entering a home than just what is visible, is there not? I want that serenity to invade all the senses and to this purpose, the lavender flavoured Yellow Door potpourri will work its magic.
Its pleasant notes will calm the travel weary spirit and beckon any soul to come and rest for awhile.
Of course, there is one guilty pleasure that no one can deny themselves when they seek to rest in a living room and feel truly comfortable without a sense of formality the childhood pleasure of usurping the bean bag all for yourself while everyone else (including the house pet, I recall!) jostle for their turn is something else. Come, let me bring back those cherished childhood moments to you as you rest.
Oh, but you must be famished, of course.
Here, have a Missisippi Blue mocktail (but of course, it had to be blue) and then we will carry on. Where, you ask?
But surely, no house is complete with just a single room, is it?
Once you are done, you must allow me the humble pleasure of showing you the other rooms within my home.
So are you ready? Good. Where would you like to go first?
The childrens room - Freedom of expression
The study room - A faux cabin in the woods
The bedroom - Luxury and Passion
Dining room – Back to your roots

Blue is indeed a lovely colour for interiors, it sort of brings the wideness of the sky and the depth of ocean inside our little spaces :) An enjoyable read, this one!
ReplyDeleteThank you.. glad you liked it :)
DeleteI love blue, but never on the walls. Roshan, what's that thing in the top left corner, flying into the room? :)
ReplyDeleteThats the new device Ive created to steal food from your plate the next time we meet *twirls fake moustache* :D
DeleteLOL I loved the dragon flying into your well lit BLUE room ! Is that what you meant by guests? Or was it the playful host :D
ReplyDeletei actually modified it now to not include that 'dragon' as you call it :D
DeleteIm pretty sure it was meant to be a swan though :p
My bedroom was sky blue color for long 6 years and such a happy mood it gave me always... but now it's a shade of fuschia. :D
ReplyDeletethis is where u girls lose me :D
DeleteI had to google online to find out what fuschia was!! Didnt we all study red, blue, green, yellow? When did you gals get an advanced colors book? :D
Loved the way you presented your wish Roshan and yes, blue is truly a wonderful and soothing colour.
ReplyDeleteI find lighter shades of blue to be truly soothing, I must say. Its peaceful...
DeleteSo I'll hold the blue mocktail and take a tour. Judges and prizes - please follow me :D
ReplyDeletehahaha... please bribe those judges on my behalf... cuts I will give you once they leave :)
DeleteI like blue furnishings and carpets but walls have to be off white or white. Want to paint a wall in my living room orange, don't ask me why :) Liked your blue living room and definitely want the Missisippi Blue mocktail :)
ReplyDeleteI get what you said and have listened... now repainted :)
Deleteand I think a bright shade of orange in one wall would be awesome, though the other shades must necessarily be less brighter for it to stand out...
A lot of offices have blue interiors. Those employees would not prefer blue I guess !you are bk home and you get reminded of office ? Naaay ! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm used to the reds of my patients (no need to ask what!).. so for me, a light blue shade would actually be comforting..
DeleteReally interesting...
ReplyDeleteAnd all the best! :)
Thank you :)
