What better way to end the WriteTribe Festival of Words 2 than with a quote on dreams...
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by
the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."
I have truly spent far too many years looking back at my 'what ifs'. I don't want to look back a decade from now and let these years too be just insignificant footnotes in my journey. Unlike before, I would rather take the risk and give it my best shot than just give up by calling it 'an impossible dream.'
I had written earlier this year of chasing an outlandish dream. That dream unfortunately died... but I didn't. And I'm free to dream once more, I know. That's the best part - we are always given another chance to dream a new dream... and with it, another chance to make our dreams come true.
This is my post for the prompt 'Dreams' for WriteTribe's Festival of Words 2
Dreams die but we must live on.. A beautiful message in that outlandish dream.
ReplyDeleteYes... that was a dream unfulfilled... another one in the pile... but its okay.
DeleteYes, some dreams may die, some may not be possible but you can always continue to dream
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to connect with you Doctor and hope to read more :)

DeleteYou'll always find new dreams to chase. Believe in them, believe yourself and go for it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Bhavya... yes. It hurts to lose, but you need to carry on. There will always be more dreams...
DeleteShort and to the point post, I really liked it.
ReplyDeleteThanks.. perfect way to end the festival for me...
Deleteyea, that we have another chance to dream is the best part of not being able to chase ur old dreams.... may u have all that u dream for...
ReplyDeletethanks TLP... somehow today I needed to hear that wish...
Deletewe should keep dreaming...i think that gives us purpose, and in some way keeps us sane..... nice quote...
ReplyDeleteTrue... without a dream, it becomes really hard to carry on, I feel.
DeleteChase a new dream,
ReplyDeleteFulfill it to the dot,
Come back here,
Write a beautiful blog post,
We will be here to appreciate it and fill it with comments! :D
Good luck !
Thanks... I could use a new dream after losing out on one that meant a lot. Somewhere, I know the dream as well... I just need to get back up from where I've fallen and believe in miracles again.
DeleteLife is but a manifestation of few successful dreams... and often the lessons we learn from the ones that didn't make it..
ReplyDeleteRicha
True... i did learn a few lessons from my losses... quite a few lessons actually :D
DeleteDream New Dreams is my mantra too.. And yes, I guess one should let-go of past, and focus on present and future..
ReplyDeleteTrue... its always tough I know... but it needs to be done...
DeleteWell said, dream new dreams! When a dream is fulfilled, it should be a stepping-stone to the next one. And when a dream is shattered, we should pick up the pieces and create a new one.
ReplyDeleteexactly... sometimes thats the best way to go about it. pick up the pieces and start over. dont give up.
DeleteLife is nothing without our dreams. They define our past, form our present and make the future worth living for. Never ever stop dreaming!
ReplyDeleteas always Nisha, you are an inspiration... true.
Delete. That dream unfortunately died... but I didn't. And I'm free to dream once more,
ReplyDeleteThere is so much positivity in your above line.Maybe that dream was destined to fade away but there may be bigger things waiting in store for you.May all your dreams be fulfilled. Amen
It hurts when a dream dies ... but I've learnt so much from each failure.. and i need to believe that there are better things in my future.. that all this is leading somewhere.
DeleteSuch a great attitude that you are able to pick up and move forward with more dreams!
ReplyDeleteonly way to be - keep building new goals and dreams and aiming for them...
DeleteOur dreams say a lot about us.. even if we dont realize them completely, we should always have dreams and work our way to it!
ReplyDeletei agree.. its when we stop dreaming that you have to be scared... it means you've given up
DeleteDream big, never let go of a dream, and then let the Universe bring it to you.
ReplyDeleteHave made a point of aiming for the stars now :D Then slowly work towards that goal..
Deletei remember the Ella Fitzgerald version better
ReplyDeleteThere was one dream I have been dreaming since a very long time and now it is about to come true. I have finally found what I want to do for the rest of my life. What can be better than that? :D
ReplyDeleteya... i know. Congrats on that :D
DeleteI am guilty of thinking too much with the what ifs and love the inspiring lines, '"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
ReplyDeleteSo throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."

They are indeed very strong words... inspiring for me at so many levels.
DeleteAnd I'm free to dream once more. Beautiful words, these. One should be scared only when one can dream no more. Where there are dreams, there is hope.
ReplyDeletei agree. When you stop caring enough to chase a new dream... thats when you're in trouble. Apathy is the true killer.
DeleteThat's the best part of every dream! And our life as well, the fact that we can "dream a new dream" and life goes on.. :)
ReplyDeleteits necessary, I feel. If we focus too much on a singular dream and lose in it, it can destroy us.
