You're kidding me, right ? We got this guy redhanded.. we got the pics, we got the bodies of his victims, the tears of the families who lost so many have still to dry up and we're talking legal action ? Why are we even giving a guy who's suicidal a pointy pen in the first place ? Why don't we just give him a lollipop, a mild spanking on the ass with a plastic bat and send him on his way in business class back to Let headquarters ???
Oh, don't get me wrong... I'm a biiig fan of the justice system ( NOT !!! ), but I really think there are certain individuals who merit quick justice.. and I'm talking 'slow-and-painful-death' kinda quick justice. I mean, we've been here before, haven't we ? Catching terrorists, delaying their fate, then having them released by terrorists who've kidnapped a plane and put more of our lives at stake. Do we really need to show these guys we're pansies one more time ? I think they got the picture the first time around itself.
Ya, I know. I'm talking the language inhumanese but I just feel there is a limit to bending over and saying 'Oooh! I'm a strong guy... I can take it up the rear end one more time.' No courts. No trials. Just the blood the crowd is baying for... let's first show our own people we're not afraid to mete out punishment before trying to be the world's favourite choir boy, singing to their tunes and flinching at their disapproval.

Somewhere between politics and human rights, I wonder what will be the eventual fate for these inhumane doings.
ReplyDeletehmm.. justice is often delayed and denied.. afzal guru's case is still pending..n now kasab.. r diplomats don't seem to realize from past mistakes.
ReplyDeletetoday's newspaper said me that some ram jethmalani or janarthanan is ready to appear for the accused if the Pak embassy approaches him..
ReplyDeletewat crap?? i say skin him alive..
I am not angry towards that so called "face of terror". Bt who is gonna giv justice to the victims of mumbai attack..... i guess i can expect that much from my "fellow" politiciens........Am i asking more????
ReplyDeleteYou guys should understand that these very barbaric ideas of "skinning the guy" & "tit for tat" are the ones the terrorists are trying to incorporate in us.
ReplyDeleteThe post says earlier that all the evidence points out that he did it. Then there should be no problem in using the right procedure of a trial to convict him. We got a fabulous legal system that hangs on the threshold of democracy in such an instance and the right course is to use it. A part of that is to give him legal aid, but he will still be convicted.. so let it be.
I guess in the end I have to agree with THESOCIALBLOG.. this is just a reaction of frustration.. but you're absolutely right.. let justice take its course.. or else what difference is there between us and them
ReplyDeleteKasab hasn't written. It is probably the intelligence agencies who 'leak' such things to put pressure on Pakistan.
ReplyDeleteHe must legal aid. Because even then he is going to get hanged. We are a nation and law must be followed.
Those who kill thousands in riots get lawyers and the Nithari accused who abused kids got them.
The basic of judicial system is that devil has the right to get advocate.
But he must get harsh sentence, which he will get.
KP
Kp, true... all that was written was written in a moment of anger.. not to mention goading by similarly animated friends. But in hindsight, I agree, let the law take its course.. we have to trust that atleast here justice will be served, right ?
ReplyDeletehe should get fair trail in a democratic country such as ours. no second thoughts about it, it should not be one way dictatorship
ReplyDeleteYa, i know... I guess i was just carried away when i saw the article
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with what you wrote in your post. and I think its stupid that you took back your words.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/dec/19mumterror-no-islamic-burial-for-mumbai-terrorists.htm
I am trying to come up with an argument to make you take back your taking back your words, but I cant put it better than what you wrote in your initial post itself.
padmanabhan, I wish I could say I agree with that, but thats just the thing - I personally feel differently now. That we have a responsibility atleast in this matter to give him a fair trial..besides theres no way hes walkin free
ReplyDeleteDr. Roshan, I am glad you have seen the point and are graceful enough to accept it is a mistake. I have criticised you quite a bit in my blogpost linking to this post, for which I will make amends. I understand it is a reaction borne out of frustration but we really need to keep a cool head, especially in troubled times. I really appreciate that courage it takes to accept that you might be wrong. :-) My post is here.
ReplyDeleteAmrutha, well.. boy, that was some post.. didnt know I was in the news this way too. Anyway, It was a fair take on my article so I accept the comments wholeheartedly
