Reel life blues...

I saw an actress act today. You know what's funny ? She was being her natural self and yet she was playing one of the toughest roles I've seen her play. I'm talking of Kareena Kapoor in Jab we Met. She plays a girl in love with life and, to be frank, the film is a gem because of her natural selflessness, which remains untapped in so many scripts.
But then, what's there to call acting, you may ask ?

It is in convincing the audience that you are in love that she scores points. Sure, she loved Shahid when the movie started ( in real life ), but the love fell flat apparently towards the end of the shooting, yet nowhere is that visible. And that perhaps is where she rose in my eyes today. She was able to do something not many seasoned actresses can manage - look into the eyes of an ex and say " the show must go on. Don't let the movie get affected because of us."

It is a funny thing about love, isn't it - when you're in it, you believe you can trust the person blindly, you want him/her to be your diary, your world. You can't wait to spend time with them and you hate having to part from them. But what happens when the love dies... suddenly your world changes.. suddenly, you can't stand to be in the same room with the person who was once your world. You need to be away from them, to cleanse yourself of everything that reminds you of them. Suddenly, you find yourself going to the other extreme of your personality ( as depicted so refreshingly in the movie. )

My question for the day : How would you react today if you were to unexpectedly come face to face with the person you once loved ?

P.S. Recommended reading for those who fear they may have a stony heart - Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner. It's been a long time since I've been so haunted by a novel..( my medical texts haunt me regularly , so they don't count. )
