I see so many fellow bloggers taking up the April A to Z challenge (wherein you blog every day of the month based on a theme and corresponding to the sequential letters of the alphabet). I keep telling myself that this is beyond me. I have never participated before. Barely completed 7 day blog marathons. And this is a whole month!
26 blogs in a month based on the A to Z of a single topic. Do I even know any topic well enough to write 26 articles on it?
As I sat pondering and debating topics while once more having dinner and watching reruns on the laptop, it dawned on me that the answer had been in front of me all along. Literally, in front of me (anyone who says "your belly?" will be banned from this blog for the next 24 hours and will have to get written permission from a local guardian before returning back.)
Tv shows.
I'm a Tv show addict. Have been since I first watched the likes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Wonder Years as a kid in Dubai back in the '80s. Add to it the fact that I am a trivia junkie, always looking for the inside story behind so many things we see everyday.
And that's one of the few things I can bring to the table in this challenge: my innate geekiness merged with being a TV sitcom lover.
While some alphabets will stick to individual shows that I consider worth watching for being unique in some way, others will focus on aspects such as the many quirks and oddities that made certain Tv characters or actors unique. Fellow TV show fans will love to read on their favourites while others will get an idea about shows they probably haven't checked out till date and are really missing out on. Who knows? You might find a new 'fav show of all time'. Isn't that a win-win for everyone?
So after all the awesome lyrical posts you see during this challenge across various blogs, if you would like to just unwind, learn some fun trivia, find new shows and see what makes them binge-worthy, do stop by at Godyears everyday in April.
Touchwood, there will be some ways to make it fun and unique for every day.

So (drum roll) the theme of my A to Z challenge for 2016 will be:
TV Sitcoms.

TV Sitcoms is an interesting theme.
ReplyDeleteIt's my first time at #AtoZChallenge too.
Good Luck with the challenge :)
Thanks.. touchwood, we both successfully complete this :D
DeleteOh!That's interesting. Not much of a TV buff but I guess your posts will enlighten me with knowledge that I lack :) Looking forward to your posts. Good Luck, it will be fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan... to give those who don't watch something to consider. Since I watch most genres, invariably there will be some show that will appeal to everyone hopefully.
DeleteI've been doing the A/Z Challenge for 4 years now and I've never ran across anyone doing a TV sitcoms before as their theme. Definitely a cute one and a lot of people will be able to relate to it as I think we all have our favorite sitcoms out there! Have a fun challenge!

Aww.. thanks. that really made my day. i figured I was the odd one out in a bad way seeing as how everyone had awesome themes and I was a total geek.
DeleteA very interesting theme, Roshan. I will be reading your posts with popcorn this April.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you joining for this challenge! Cheers :)
Still a bit intimidated and wondering how I will do it. The next week is gonna be crucial to get a head start
DeleteConsidering I don't get time to watch TV at all this will be a great resource for me to at least look knowledgeable when people talk about sit coms . I look forward to your posts
ReplyDeletewill be covering a lot of genres so hopefully we will find something u like :D
DeleteYou would be surprised to know this, but I'm not a great fan of TV shows. I like reality shows, though- specially the ones in which Gordon Ramsay stars *hides face*
ReplyDeleteBut as you said, I might find a new favourite show among the 26 that you will post about!
Don't worry about completing the challenge. Just take it one day at a time. Writing at a stretch and scheduling posts helps. Because then you can devote time to reading, which in turn will inspire you to keep writing.
And of course, all of us bloggers are here to cheer you on through April!
Cheers :D
As of now, the list has only one reality show but let me see if I can make a believer out of you :D
DeleteYayy Doc what a super cool theme! Already mentally rewinding to my fav shows. Hope they'll be there. Looking forward to your April posts, cheers :)
ReplyDeletelet's see as the alphabets go by :)
DeleteTV sitcoms.. They sound interesting to me.. Me too was thinking for them, but I haven't watched so many sitcoms.. Looking forward to read more and more.. :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best :)
Cheers
Yay... looking forward to sharing some really good ones :)
DeleteI am going to follow this one! Roshan, I am a tv sitcom fan and have many favorites. Let me see how many of my choices do you feature. Star trek and CSI along with Bones and House should feature. :) I love the medical ones, what can I say! Not got a single scientific bone in my body but love their logic! All the best.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see a fellow sitcom fan around :)
DeleteAnd you put me in a dilemma... Many good shows start with the same alphabet and I only get to use the alphabet once. For example, Bones competes with Big Bang Theory, Boston Legal, Brooklyn 99 and so many others :)
Some letters leave you spoiled for choice... others you struggle to find even one!
Great theme, great idea. I'll be dropping by.
ReplyDeleteShalom,
Pat
Thanks... hopefully you will love my choices :) Shalom.
DeleteHa ha! What a fun theme! And I'm already thinking of GoT, HoC,OITNB 😜
ReplyDeleteAll the best and I will be cheering you throughout. Go for it!!
Only 1 of those is there in my list so far simply because I am spoiled with choices with some of these alphabets and need to select one over the other. :D
Deletewho doesnt like to relax with a little sitcom laughter? great theme!
ReplyDeleteThe Really Real Housewives
Thanks Tara.. hope to make you smile as the month goes by :)
DeleteNow this is one different theme.. ALl the best.. Looking forward to reading each on of them.
ReplyDeleteAm surprised not many have done it before... it's something I find a lot easier compared to what so many more talented bloggers are aiming for this year
DeleteYou are so going to ace this, my friend! Good luck and have a blast in April.
ReplyDeleteThanks.. gonna need some luck and major time management...
DeleteWow! Television will follow me to the PC too.. This should be most enjoyable. Good luck :)
ReplyDeletehehe :) yup. I really need to plan well for this in the coming week.
DeleteWelcome to the world of A to Z-ing. Here's hoping your first time out will be rewarding and memorable. ☺ What a fun theme! I love trivia and nostalgia too. Looking forward to your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie. I hope so too :)
ReplyDeleteA great idea to blog about something you know well. Here from the reveal and wish you all the best for a successful challenge.
ReplyDeleteNilanjana.

Okay here are some sitcoms that you MUST right about
D- Downton Abbey
H- House of Cards
S- Scandal

haha... sorry, but none feature in my final list. Have too many choices in these letters and have chosen some which deserve more love :)
DeleteOooh, as a fellow TV addict (star trek included) I can't wait to see what you will write about! *faved* www.xoxomake.com Good luck fellow challenger!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you too... expect a lot of fun posts and some fun surprises too.
DeleteAha!! I'd love to read about your take on sitcoms and hope I wont be banned for that. Seeking permission from local guardian is tricky Sir since I always cheat..hehe Who knows you might push me to watch sitcoms?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure with the wide variety coming up, surely you will find something you like :)
